7 Signs Your Business Needs a New Website

20 November 2025 · 5 min read

Most businesses wait too long to renew their website. Not because they don't realize it's old, but because they don't have a concrete benchmark for when 'a bit outdated' becomes 'costing me money'. Here are seven clear signs — if three or more apply, it's time for a new website.

1. Your website loads slowly

If your homepage takes more than three seconds to load, you've already lost half your visitors. Google penalizes slow websites heavily in search results, and users have no patience in 2025. You can test speed for free on PageSpeed Insights — if you score below 70, that's a warning.

2. It looks bad on mobile

Over 70 percent of all web traffic comes from mobile. If your website isn't built mobile-first, and people have to zoom or scroll sideways to read, you've lost every visitor in an instant.

3. You get few inquiries

A good website should generate concrete leads. If you almost never get inquiries via form, phone, or email from the website, either traffic is too low or conversion is too poor — usually both.

4. It's a struggle to update content

If you have to call a developer every time you want to change a phone number or add a price, your website is built wrong. Modern websites should be easy to update without technical expertise.

5. The design looks like 2015

Trends change, and a website from 2015–2018 looks immediately outdated to modern users. It's not just aesthetics — it's trust. People judge professionalism in seconds, and an old website signals an old business.

6. You don't rank on Google

If you have to go to page three in Google to find your own business when searching for your services, you have an SEO problem. It can be solved with work on the existing site — but often it's simpler and cheaper to build new with the right structure from the start.

7. You're embarrassed to send the link

The last, and perhaps most important sign: you hesitate to share your website. You'd rather mention the phone number than the URL. If you're not proud of your website, it's because it doesn't represent your business properly — and that's the most obvious reason to build a new one.
